• Book PBI when fares are within about $50 per ticket, when you travel alone, or when your flight leaves before 7 a.m. — the seven-mile hop protects your sleep.
• Book FLL when Southwest, JetBlue, or Spirit undercuts PBI meaningfully, when you need a nonstop PBI does not fly, or for most international itineraries.

The southbound run

From Mangonia Park the driver picks up I-95 at 45th Street and points the car south for essentially the entire trip — about 61 miles to the FLL exits. In normal traffic that is 70 to 80 minutes; through the weekday afternoon crunch between Delray and Deerfield, plan on 90. Florida’s Turnpike serves as the release valve when I-95 has an incident, and since every quote already includes tolls, the driver reroutes freely.
